2008 Edmund S. Muskie Award Ceremony

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

On Wednesday, June 18, CNP was honored to be able to present the Edmund S. Muskie Distinguished Public Service Award to General Brent Scowcroft and Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE).  These honorees truly represent what Ed Muskie stood for, and what CNP stands for—integrity, dedication, thoughtfulness, and putting country above all else.

CNP was also honored to be able to give special recognition to Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (D-NE) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for their work in launching the Nuclear Security Caucus after co-chairing CNP’s MacArthur Foundation-sponsored Nuclear Security Study Group.  Because of the threat that unsecured and undetected nuclear materials and facilities pose not just to the United States but to the entire world, this issue must be addressed in a bipartisan, thoughtful and thorough way, and both the Nuclear Security Caucus and NSSG will continue to do so.
