Peter Thoren - Board of Directors

Peter L. Thoren is Executive Vice President of Access Industries, a privately held, U.S.-based industrial group with global investments.  Access has offices in New York, London and Moscow and focuses on three key sectors: natural resources and chemicals; media and telecommunications; and real estate.

Representative companies in the Access portfolio include LyondellBasell Industries (an independent chemical company), TNK-BP (a vertically integrated oil major), UC RUSAL (a vertically integrated aluminum producer), and Warner Music Group.  Mr. Thoren serves on various corporate boards within Access’s investment portfolio.

Before joining Access in 2001, Mr. Thoren was Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Walker Digital Corporation, the founder of Priceline.com.  Previously, he held management positions with Salomon Inc and was an attorney with Rogers & Wells law firm in New York.

Mr. Thoren serves on numerous not-for-profit boards including The Sabin Vaccine Institute, The Center for National Policy, The Institute for Strategic Dialogue, The US-Russia Business Council, CIBAM (at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge), and The Connecticut Appleseed Foundation.  He is a member of The Economic Club of New York and a corporate member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Business Executives for National Security (BENS).

Mr. Thoren graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Phi Beta Kappa) and has degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the Georgetown University Law Center.  He is a member of the N.Y. State Bar.
